Calling all high school vocalists ready to take your performance skills to the next level!
Pittsburgh Festival Opera is seeking talented high school students from across Western Pennsylvania to join our dynamic training program for the next generation of performers. Selected students will work throughout the year with Pittsburgh Festival Opera’s professional artistic staff, developing their voices, musicianship, stage presence, and confidence while preparing a diverse repertoire of opera scenes, arias, and choruses.

What you’ll experience
As a member of the program, students will have opportunities to:
- Receive expert vocal and performance guidance from professional artists and coaches.
- Prepare and perform a diverse repertoire of operatic scenes, arias, and choruses.
- Showcase their growth in two featured performances—one during the fall/winter season and one in the spring.
- Take part in special concerts celebrating the artistry and creativity of young classical musicians in a fully youth-driven production.
- Connect with and perform alongside other talented young singers from across Western Pennsylvania.
Daniel G. and Carole L. Kamin Next Generation Artist Program
Students are also invited to deepen their experience through the Daniel G. and Carole L. Kamin Next Generation Artist Program, an intensive week of advanced summer training. This one-of-a-kind opportunity includes:
- Private voice lessons
- Individual coaching
- Advanced performance training
- Hands-on involvement in the production of Pittsburgh Festival Opera’s summer opera
- The opportunity to work alongside emerging professional artists
Perform for Your Community: Opera Through the Generations
Participants also take part in Opera Through the Generations, bringing their music to residents of local senior living facilities. These special preview performances give students meaningful real-world performance experience while creating connections across generations through music. Residents are invited to attend the students’ full concerts at no cost, making these performances an opportunity for young artists to share their talents and make a lasting impact in the community.
