Virgula Divina performance at Pittsburgh Festival Opera

VIRGULA DIVINA

by Karen Brown and Jessica Lanay

World premiere blends classic opera with real-time improvisational software

What if you were the last person on earth? Composer Karen Brown and librettist Jessica Lanay have created a masterful new work that celebrates women’s multifaceted roles and impact in contemporary society. In addition to the powerful storytelling and gifted musicians and vocalists, technology provides a compelling overlay, as each evening’s performance is unique, thanks to software that directs the storyline and ending.

Featuring Anqwenique, Courtney Porter and Edward Washington II. Ellen Jackson directs with Michelle Rofrano conducting.

Sung in English with English supertitles projected over the stage.
