Pagliacci performance at Pittsburgh Festival Opera

PAGLIACCI

by Ruggero Leoncavallo

Meet the original misunderstood clown.

The classic story of love and betrayal takes place within a commedia del arte troupe, when one of the lead performers discovers his wife is having an affair. With secrets, revenge and more than a hint of melodrama, the tragedy unfolds in front of the audience’s eyes to a soaring score.

Featuring Carl Tanner as Canio with Danielle Pastin, Stephen Gaertner, Xiaomeng Zhang and Mason Gates Neipp. Conducted by Christian Capocaccia and directed by Chuck Hudson.

Sung in Italian with English supertitles projected over the stage.
