The Drowning Boy’s Guide to Water performance at Pittsburgh Festival Opera

THE DROWNING BOY’S GUIDE TO WATER

Love, loss and identity

Cameron Barnett’s poetry collection, The Drowning Boy’s Guide to Water, winner of the 2017 Rising Writer Contest and finalist for NAACP Image Awards for Outstanding Literary Work in Poetry, explores issues of race in today’s America. As Pittsburgh’s own Barnett finds his voice in his first book, Pittsburgh Festival Opera amplifies it, creating an impactful afternoon of poetry and storytelling. Pittsburgh Festival Opera has commissioned a new song cycle based on The Drowning Boy’s Guide to Water that will premiere in the 2021 season.
