The results are in! The sixth annual Mildred Miller International Voice Competition took place on 29–30 October 2016 in a search for America's best singers. Young professionals aged 18–32 competed for cash prizes and solo roles in SummerFest 2017.
The panel of judges included Mildred Miller Posvar, Robert Chafin, Robert Croan, Danielle Pastin, Eugene Perry, and special guest George Shirley. Applications were received from 156 singers from 14 countries; 23 of these singers were invited to Pittsburgh for the semi-finals round on Saturday 29 October. Nine singers were selected to continue to the finals round, held on Sunday 30 October at the Frick Art & Historical Center. There, audiences enjoyed arias by a wide range of composers—and after a difficult process, the judges awarded four prizes.
The Mildred Miller International Voice Competition is part of OPERA America's National Opera Week.
The Judge's Panel was made possible through the generous support of Christopher and Ann Donahue.
